This guide shows you how to set up warehouses. Stock is owned by warehouses that sit within your branches, so a warehouse is where received goods land and where on-hand quantities are held.
Before you start
- Decide the scope the warehouse belongs to โ Organisation, Entity, Branch, Department or Position. The deeper the level, the more of the hierarchy you must supply (a Branch-scoped warehouse needs both an entity and a branch).
- Agree your warehouse codes with your team so they stay consistent across the business.
Steps
Add a warehouse
- Open the warehouses list and choose to add a warehouse.
- Fill in:
- Code (required, up to 120 characters) โ a short unique reference.
- Name (required, up to 200 characters).
- Description (optional, up to 2000 characters).
- Default (optional) โ mark this warehouse as the default. A goods receipt with no warehouse chosen falls back to the default, so setting one keeps receiving quick.
- Status (optional) โ Active or Inactive.
- Set the scope level and its hierarchy fields (entity, branch, department, position) to match the level you chose.

- Save the warehouse.
Result
The warehouse is created within its branch and ready to hold stock. When you receive goods, quantities land in this warehouse; if you marked it default, it is used automatically whenever a receipt does not name a warehouse.
